Troll Marine Tracking Antenna/Transceiver Passes Mil-STD-461G for Radiated Emissions and Radiated Susceptibility.

Established by the US Department of Defense in 1967, MIL-STD 461 has evolved to address Electromagnetic Interference and Compatibility EMI / EMC for a wide range of permanent and tactical defense radio applications.  Typical platforms include tactical vehicles, aircraft and naval ships both above and below deck.

The standard establishes an interface and associated verification requirements for the control of the electromagnetic emissions and susceptibility characteristics of electronic, electrical, and electromechanical equipment and subsystems from Very Low Frequency (VLF) 3–30 kHz to Super High Frequency (SHF) up to 18 GHz.

MIL-STD-461G incorporates four types of analysis to describe continuous, modulated and transient waves or pulse disturbances that radiate from or are conducted by the equipment undergoing test.

The standard is comprised of emission and susceptibility testing for both conducted and radiated electromagnetic interference and susceptibility. These tests are divided into four categories:

1. Conducted Emissions – testing current or voltage on wire.
2. Radiated Emissions * – measuring EM radiation propagating from device or wire.
3. Conducted Susceptibility – measuring the electromagnetic response to induced noise.
4. Radiated Susceptibility* – measuring a device or wire’s ability to function properly when subjected to externally generated electromagnetic fields.

Currently Troll Systems’ AX3000 marine tracking antenna and transceiver system has been passed certification for radiated emissions and radiated susceptibility. To date, the AX3000 marina antenna / transceiver system has only been tested for radiated emissions and radiated susceptibility.
