Troll’s MTX tactical tracking antennas maximize the range and reliability of air-to-ground video and data from manned and unmanned air, ground and marine vehicles. MTX antennas are easy to operate, automatically locating and tracking RF signals effortlessly. Available in five different sizes these systems feature high-gain parabolic reflectors that provide exceptional long-range performance.

Troll Systems’ MTX antennas provide automated calibration, alignment and operations in up to four frequency bands simultaneously. A precision INS/dual-GPS (DGPS) determines the system orientation and directly steers the antenna to maximize range and signal strength. Unlike most tracking antennas, Troll’s MT Series antennas and ground data terminals are capable of auto-aligning the position and orientation of the antenna’s boresight without operator input. Once initialized MTX antenna systems will dynamically maintain this alignment.

MTX antennas are designed to automatically locate and track virtually any tactical or commercial radio waveform; CDL, BE-CDL, TCDL, XBR, DVB-T COFDM, OFDM or FDM MIMO. Bidirectional encoding, decoding, encryption and distribution can be controlled via local or remote control, connecting the antenna’s transmitter and receiver to the network over secure Ethernet or serial interface.

Interchangeable Channel or Band-Pass Filters  

To minimize the possibility of RF signal interference MTX antennas provide optional narrow or wideband filters to help manage multiple transmit and receive channels. These filters isolate the antenna from frequencies outside the filter's bandwidth envelope and improve data link performance particularly in congested radio frequency environments. Mounted externally these filters are easy to install or change on a mission by mission basis.

Dual-GPS and Embedded INS

MTX antennas utilize a high performance INS that incorporates the latest solid-state sensor technology. It combines three-axis accelerometers, gyros, magnetometers, a barometric pressure sensor, two GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) receivers, and a low-power micro-processor. In static and dynamic situations the INS relies on these multiple sensor types and DGPS to determine location and orientation in three-dimensions. Self-optimizing, an auto-alignment routine keeps the INS and the RF boresight in precise parallel alignment. By periodically “peaking” the signal using the RSSI information from the RFE/modem the antenna will recalibrate an offset to the INS while monitoring the RSSI level. Once the peak is found, the offset is maintained to eliminate any INS drift on an ongoing basis.
